When should you start cleaning your baby's teeth?
The sooner the better! Starting at birth, clean your child's gums with a soft infant tooth brush or a cloth and water. As soon as the teeth start to appear, brush them twice a day with a training toothpaste. When the molars begin to erupt, move to a fluoride toothpaste.
How much toothpaste?
For children under the age of two, use a "grain of rice" sized amount. For children over the age of two, dispense a "pea size" amount of toothpaste.
Remember, children do not have the proper manual dexterity to brush or floss their teeth effectively. So make brushing a flossing a fun habit and incorporate it into your daily routine.
