Your child’s visit can be FUN! Keep it low stress and chill. The goal is to introduce them to a new environment with an exam, but mainly to convey preventative guidelines to the parents. If you allow screen time, Dr. P’s favorite video to watch is Daniel Tiger: Goes to the Dentist. Here are a few do’s and dont’s that we think are helpful!

Do:

  • Explain the visit positively
  • Let them watch your check up or if they have an older sibling bring them to that appointment to see how easy it is.
  • Arrive a few minutes early to acclimate
  • Bring their favorite toy or stuffy
  • Schedule an early morning appointment

Don’t:

  • Use scary words
  • Talk about your own fears
  • Bring them tired or hungry
  • Force them if they are upset ● Surprise them with the visit
