Summer is finally here and the kids are out of school! The Little Harpeth Smile Squad has recommendations for healthy summer snacks. We recommend lots of fresh fruit and vegetables.
- You can have fun together by creating “Fruit Kabobs” for those really hot days. Watermelon, kiwi, apples, and strawberries are wonderful snacks.
- Another favorite snack around our office are frozen grapes. These are a terrific alternative to sugary popsicles and they are an easy snack to make.
- Homemade fruit popsicles are another healthy option that you can make together to avoid the sugary popsicles. All you need is a plain, low sugar yogurt, blended with low acid fruit like bananas. Did you know that bananas are Dr. Priya’s favorite!?!
- Veggie trays are also a quick and easy option: cucumbers, celery, and carrots are perfect.
- As always, we recommended water! This helps to wash away the food and helps keep your teeth nice and healthy.
