Plaque: what is it and how does it affect our teeth? Plaque is a sticky film of bacteria that clings to our teeth. Plaque can cause cavities, gingivitis, and infection in the gum tissue. Did you know that plaque can compile within just a few minutes of it being removed?! This is why brushing and flossing each and every morning and night is so very important. As always, we recommend a parent helping with brushing and flossing because children do not have the proper dexterity to brush effectively on their own. When brushing your children’s teeth, make sure to brush using big round circles and remember to get the gum line as well. Go Teeth!
